JJRC H37 Drone Review
JJRC H37 Drone Review 2021 – is the JJRC H37 quadcopter worth the money? Review of features, pricing, flight duration, battery, camera and more.
Drones have been steadily rising in popularity over the last 10 years. What started out as military gadgets have evolved to personal entertainment for the masses. Drones are basically RC vehicles with recording and photographing capabilities. Some choose to fly them purely for entertainment, while others enjoy the video and photos they can capture from above. Another trend emerging in the drone world is selfie drones, and the JJRC H37 Drone, also known as the ‘Baby Elfie’, is one worth exploring.
What are Selfie Drones?
We’re most likely all aware that we are living in the mighty ‘selfie age’. The rise of social media and the urge to document everything and anything gave birth to the selfie: a self-shot photo for individuals or groups. Selfie sticks have become popular so the person taking the photo can also be in the pick, so it makes sense that the cameras on drones would also evolve in response to the growing selfie trend.
Selfie drones are designed for taking aerial selfies. Selfie drones differ from other drones on the market in a few ways, but mainly in size. Selfie drones are very small but still deliver quality imaging shots. Selfie drones do not have the same quality as exploration drones, but as far as taking dronies (drone-shot selfies), at less than $50, the JJRC H37 Drone can definitely deliver. The JJRC H37 also features a foldable design to enable the owner to have it with them at all times to capture all those memory-worthy dronies.back to menu ↑
JJRC Product Line
The JJRC product line comes from JianJian Technology, and their focus is on design that supports user-friendly models that are affordable and fun to use. Established in 2009, they supply and distribute a wide variety of RC vehicles suitable for a range of ages.
JJRC H37 Drone Camera
The Baby Elfie’s camera represents an upgrade from the earlier model to a 720p sensor, known to be much more efficacious than previous models. Due to the compact size, there is not a lot of stability, but with an angle adjustment, that can easily be compensated for. The bottom line is that the JJRC H37 has an ideal camera that is well suited to its price range. For users looking to capture dronies, the Baby Elfie delivers what it promises.
Baby Elfie Performance
In terms of overall performance, what makes or breaks a drone in terms of quality are battery life and operating range. When it comes to battery life, the Baby Elfie features a 400mAh lithium-ion battery. This is a one-cell model that puts out around six or seven minutes of flight time. The battery can be recharged in an hour, so investing in a couple of extra batteries is a good plan if you want to enjoy longer flying times. In addition to the extra batteries, purchasing a charger that can charge multiple batteries at a time would also be a good idea. While the purchase of extra batteries and a charger adds up, with the price of the Baby Elfie being less than $50, you are still coming out on top.
Baby Elfie Operating Range
In terms of operating range, the selfie drones are not the best. As most people purchase a selfie drone for taking dronies rather than exploring, the JJRC H37 drone does what it is designed for. As selfies are taken at a close range, this is why the Baby Elfie does not feature an extended operating range. From its controller, the drone reaches between 50-to-100 meters. In terms of FPV range, it’s approximately 30 meters, which is about average for a drone in that price range.
The JJRC H37 Design
The design features a black body with propeller arms that are foldable for ease of transport and white decals on the top. Bright LED white plastic makes up the sides with red at the back and white up at front. These make the drone visible at night, as well as making simple orientation adjustments.
Baby Elfie Features
The Baby Elfie has some pretty impressive and handy features. The WiFi FPV allows for live transmission of video feed right from the camera. The reported latency is not problematic and is characteristic of all WiFi FPV systems. FPV makes for the perfect dronies compatible with both IOS and Android smartphones. Another positive feature is excellent for beginners; the headless mode is enacted by the push of a button. Baby Elfie also has gravity sensors.
The Baby Elfie controller is unique looking as it does not feature the traditional controller with two analog sticks to control pitch, jaw, roll, and throttle. Instead, the JJRC design team chose a one-analog system, and it is the gravity sensors that makes it work. The gravity sensor allows users to simultaneously control the pitch and roll while the analog controls the jaw and throttle. To move the drone, users simply move the controller up and down. The controller is intuitive, making it ideal for beginners who are still getting the feel of drone control and operation. The drone is also made from heavy-duty plastic for durability.back to menu ↑
When it comes to reviewing the JJRC H37 drone, the final verdict is a good one. For the price range of under $50, you are unlikely to find another with its durability or capabilities. Users find that if the Baby Elfie is used primarily for what it is designed for, taking dronies, it offers the best bang for its buck. Its HD camera delivers just what users are looking for: decent-quality selfie shots for a reasonable price.
For less than $50, buyers get a drone that is user-friendly, a blast to operate, ideal for beginners, and has a sleek foldable design that makes it perfect for taking along on holidays or day trips. While the Baby Elfie is recommended for users over the age of 14, owners have reported that its user-friendly nature makes it ideal for children with a little drone experience, and as the price is right, it is thought to be an ideal gateway drone for children and adults just starting out.
