Potensic T25 Drone Review

Potensic T25 Drone Review 2023 – is the Potensic T25 quadcopter worth the money? Review of features, pricing, flight duration, battery, camera and more.

Think that you can’t get a decent camera drone for less than $200? The Potensic T25 drone is here to prove otherwise. Retailing for just $139.99 on Amazon, this quadcopter (or just ‘copter) comes with pretty much everything you’d expect. Some users have suggested that it might be good enough to go toe-to-toe with top-of-the-range models. But hey, that’s just one man’s opinion — why not take a closer look and judge for yourself?

The T25 is available in 2 color options: White and black. Both are identically-priced, but most people prefer white for its ability to reflect the sun’s rays (thus preventing overheat). If that’s not a concern, you might want to order yours in black for better visibility outdoors.

Whatever you choose, expect the drone to arrive ready to hit the ground running. Or rather, take to the skies immediately — the Potensic T25 ships pre-assembled. You’ll likely be surprised by how compact it is for a camera drone. The body measures 10.6 x 10.6 x 4.7 inches across the 3 axes, and the weight hardly surpasses 4 pounds even with the camera attached.

While such lightweight builds have come to be associated with poor build quality, that’s not the case here. Potensic have used high-grade plastic for the construction. The drone feels solid enough to handle a few knocks and bumps — just don’t be too keen to test yours in that regard as you explore its flight capabilities. On that note, it’s time to see what the ‘copter packs under the hood:

-9-Axis gyroscope: While other models are content with a 6-axis gyro, the T25 employs a more advanced unit for enhanced wind resistance.

-Dual positioning system: The in-flight tracking mechanism utilizes both GPS and GLONASS for pinpoint accuracy.

-Intelligent flight modes: The ‘headless mode’ will help you stay in control of the drone without keeping track of its orientation. You can also customize your own flight paths using the ‘Waypoint’ mode. The T25 will even follow a signal from your smartphone thanks to the ‘Follow-Me’ function. Should the device ever get lost in flight, use the ‘Return-to-Home’ function to make it come back.

-One-button take off and landing.

It’s worth highlighting that all drones, pre-assembled or otherwise, require setup of some sort before they can fly for the first time. The T25 is no exception. Not that there’s anything to be concerned about; the package comes with everything you need to get going, including

-A detailed user manual

-A screwdriver

-A 3.7V 1000mAH battery

-A USB charger

-A remote control transmitter with a smartphone cradle

Accessories include an extra pair of landing gears, 4 additional propeller blades, and an equal number of propeller guards. The camera (a 1080P unit; more details below) will come already mated to the drone. Instructions on how to detach it are provided in the manual.

Now, the setup itself will involve quite a number of steps. You will first need to get batteries for the remote control, and a microSD card for the camera. The next step is to charge the drone’s battery and put it in place. From there, download the Potensic-G app into your phone and mount it onto the cradle on the transmitter. You will then attach the propeller guards onto the unit and power it up to begin the calibration. No need to delve into details here — you will be fine as long as you follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.

The Potensic T25’s performance in flight can best be summed up in one word: Satisfactory. It handles well enough to tick all the right boxes, but not good enough to take your breath away. And what more could you ask for, given the drone’s price?

The first thing you notice with the controls is that everything works as advertised. The one-button takeoff will have you airborne without breaking any sweat; just activate it and the drone will climb up to 5 feet and stay put. From there, you can expect the drone to respond to your commands with little-to-no lag.

How easily you’ll be able to fly will depend on where you’re coming from. If you’re a complete novice, it’s probably best to keep things simple as you hone your skills and get familiar with the controls. Otherwise, you should be able to master the setup within a day or two.

Where the T25 really excels is in the optics department. The HD camera provides an expansive view of the surroundings, thanks to the 120-degree field of view lens. It can also be operated remotely via Wi-Fi; you could tilt it up to 75 degrees to find the best angles for your shots. The images/video will be recorded straight to your phone, from where you may edit them and share on your social channels.

How Good Is It, Really?

As hinted above, you always get what you pay for when it comes to drones. The Potensic T25 will prove to be a worthwhile investment as long as you keep your expectations realistic. It’s actually one of the best camera RC models available for less than $200.

The only other comparable drone in this range is the Blade Inductrix FPV. Like the T25, it comes with a HD FPV camera already attached, albeit one that can only shoot in 720p. It however makes up for the lower resolution with high-performance motors. These, combined with the lightweight build, mean that the Blade Inductrix will fly much faster than the T25.

So, which of the two should you choose? The Inductrix will be more preferable for those who want a speedy ‘copter. But if you care more for real-world performance, the Potensic T25 will be your best bet. Not only will it handle better outdoors, but it also comes across as a more complete package.

PROs & CONs Listing

-Suitable for all skill levels

-Has an impressive range of 980 feet, with a maximum flight height of 393 feet.

-The onboard camera delivers high-quality images and video

-The integrated 9-axis gyro works great in keeping the drone stable.

-Battery life is a meager 10 minutes.

-Handles poorly in strong wind.

-No collision avoidance feature

All in all, the Potensic T25 drone is well worth the investment. It’s particularly well-suited for individuals who are just getting their feet wet in the world of drones. And while it doesn’t fit the bill for professional use, it’s about as good as you can get for a practice ‘copter.
