Simrex X11 Drone Review

Simrex X11 Review 2023 – is the Simrex X11 quadcopter worth the money? Review of features, pricing, flight duration, battery, camera and more.

When you are getting serious about flying, you need serious gear to back you up. Cheap toy drones simply won’t do if you plan on taking this hobby a step further. Those are likely to break and frustrate at every turn. Their outputs will disappoint rather than impress. Upgrade to a better model to see what a quality drone can really do. If you don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on professional equipment then look for affordable products that punch above their weight. For example, the Simrex X11 provides excellent features without charging a fortune. Let’s get to know it a little bit more.

The Simrex X11 has a classic UFO quadcopter design with perfect symmetry and fixed arms. Each of these hold brushless motors that prevent heat build-up, reduce noise, and increase battery life. It may be all-plastic but it has a solid build. The package includes a controller with phone holder, charging cable, one battery, 8 propellers, 4 propeller guards, a screw driver, and a product manual. It doesn’t come with a traveling case so you have to use the box for storage. The carton has foam inserts and a handle so this should be fine if you’re careful. As for the drone itself, the chassis can brush off crashes. The landing gear shields the camera and gimbal.

One of the best things about the X11 is that the camera has a full HD resolution that takes good shots. That’s when you know that this flyer is a cut above the rest. Simrex made sure that it won’t just look good on paper as the output is decent despite the low price. It even has a gimbal with 2-axis stabilization. This allows the drone to capture steady shots even when the wind is creating turbulence or when you need to tilt the unit at an angle. Users will be able to see the live video feed at 1080p on the app via smartphone.

The battery is another one of its strengths. The X11 has a large 3,150 mAh battery that is a far cry from most toy drones that don’t even reach 1,000 mAh. Despite having a more powerful camera, a gimbal, a GPS, and other advanced circuits, it is able to manage 22 minutes of flight per charge. The actual battery life will depend on usage patterns. Charging time is long at over two hours due to its high capacity. Get several spares for quick swaps and continuous shooting. Slow things down and keep the unit close to save on battery.

Unlike the basic controllers, pilots have a lot more information on their hands with the X11’s transmitter. There is an LCD screen that shows different flight parameters including the speed, altitude, distance, GPS signal, power, and many more. Other information are also reflected on the companion app through a paired mobile phone. These make it easier to make decisions on the fly quite literally. Movements can be more precise thanks to the instant feedback provided by these trackers. ¬¬Several buttons are on standby on the remote control for the most vital functions. You can also pilot the drone directly using the mobile app. Maximum control distance is at an incredible 500m. Note that Wi-Fi range is much shorter so keep it close to ensure smooth streaming.

Despite its advanced capabilities, this drone remains easy to fly. There are failsafe features such as Auto Return to Home when the battery runs low and when the signal is weak. Pilots don’t even have to press anything. The X11 will detect these conditions and come back before it goes astray. It’s a safe investment since the unit is unlikely to get lost. All of the usual functionalities are also here including headless mode, one key take off, altitude hold, and speed switching. It is also possible to plot a trajectory and watch the drone follow the waypoints one by one. This makes land surveys much easier.

Adventurers who are out there filing themselves while running, climbing, skiing, sailing, or hiking can use the Follow Me mode to get the drone to hover above the user at all times while on the move. There is no need to bring a camera crew since the whole epic shot can be obtained through the drone alone. Everything will look smooth and professional. It is also possible to get the X11 to circle a subject for a 360-degree shot. This is perfect for those shots at mountain peaks, roof decks, and other scenic locations. The unit can also hold its location using air pressure sensors to lock into a certain height.

What People are Saying

Users are blown away by the features at this price point of just under $160. Physical assembly is easy as you only need to install the blades and their guards. It is better to use another screw driver as the one provided doesn’t really fit the job. Software setup and calibration are more complex but follow the guides and you should be fine. This drone is heavier than the 0.55lb threshold limit so it needs to be registered with the FAA to avoid the penalties. The gimbal works well in keep the camera steady and the shots level for impressive videos.

Comparison with Other Drones

The Simrex X11 Drone is undoubtedly powerful but there are other contenders in this price point. Consider the Snaptain SP500 if you would rather have a foldable drone with advanced features. However, the camera can only shoot 1080p. The Drocon DC-08 is another Full HD shooter with a good all-buckle design for ease of assembly and geo-fencing to prevent loss. However, the battery and control ranges are lower than the X11’s. EACHINE E520S has a 4K drone with two batteries with each managing 16 minutes in the air and support for up to 128GB micro SD card. However, it cost a bit more, the control distance is shorter, and the motors are not brushless.
